Future living
All pages of the book spread out next to each other on the floor form an area of 17.32 square metres. There is space for a bed, two chairs, a table and a wardrobe. With a bit of luck – depending on the city where my new room is located – I can afford these 18 square metres to live in. What would be affordable in Witten is hardly affordable in Munich or Frankfurt.
Nothing seems sure anymore in a time when living space is increasingly scarce and expensive. But one thing is certain: our needs today will also be our needs in the future. For me, this includes an aromatic coffee in the morning and a roll, fresh from the oven of the bakery next door. For home can be anywhere: “Beam me up Scotty” and then it’s off to another place – the moon. Mars. Meppen. Wherever.
